Questions people ask
- How many cookies does each person bring to a cookie exchange?
- A common rule is a dozen for each guest, so everyone goes home with a dozen of every kind. Bigger groups often settle on a set amount, like six dozen each, and everyone takes a mix.
- How do we keep from ending up with the same cookies?
- When guests join, they see what's already coming and name their own cookie, so two people don't both bring sugar cookies.
- What about allergies?
- Each guest can mark their cookie for tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, dairy and eggs, and everyone sees it on the list of what is coming.
- How do we share the recipes?
- Each guest types their recipe once. You can print them all as 4 x 6 recipe cards, two to a page, ready to cut out and tuck into each tin.
- When should we hold the exchange?
- The first two weekends of December are the favorites: close enough to Christmas for cookie trays and gifts, early enough that calendars still have room.
- Does everyone need an account?
- No. Share one invite link in a text or a group chat. Each guest who opens it adds their name and gets their own page.
